TidyDoc is a small – and slightly rough – tool for automating some of the most boring tasks when formating Microsoft Word documents for the web.  Its interface could be described as “minimal”.

What will TidyDoc do?

• Extract all the text it can find from your document, and wrap <p>paragraph</p> tags around all the paragraphs it can find
• Replace a number of common characters found in Word documents (such as smart quotes and em-dashes) with their HTML character entity equivalents
• Present you with the result in a large text box for you to copy it out into your HTML editor of choice.

What doesn’t TidyDoc do?

• Preserve any kind of formatting whatsoever including headings, tables and drawings.
• Wander around the office taking orders on a pad, then head to do a tea round.
